Our Story
From Richmond to the Blue Ridge — a Guatemalan family and an Indian-American one, with our people joining from across the country, from Guatemala and from India. We can't wait to celebrate in the mountains with those we love most.
The Big Day
An outdoor ceremony under the mandap with the Blue Ridge behind us, honoring both of our traditions. Start time comes with the full schedule.
Cocktail hour with chaat and pani puri, then a full evening of it: steak and glazed salmon alongside an Indian buffet, two desserts and cake, open bar, and a DJ until the stars are out.

The Order of the Day
Lydia Mountain Lodge

The doors open, and breakfast and light refreshments are served as guests arrive.
The groom arrives in procession, greeted with music and dancing.
The families receive the groom, followed by a short puja, until ten minutes before noon.
The groom takes his place at the mandap and the ceremony begins. It lasts approximately an hour and a quarter.
Luncheon is served between one o'clock and a quarter past, as the ceremony draws to a close.
Cocktails are served ahead of the reception.
The reception begins, and continues into the late hours.
The order of the day is as planned; the hours may shift a little as the day unfolds.
Before you come
We are marrying outdoors, high in the Blue Ridge, and the ground is mountain ground — grass and gravel, sloping and uneven in places, with a short walk between the parking, the ceremony and the lodge. Flat soles or a block heel will carry you through the day far more happily than a fine heel. Bring something warm for the evening; the air turns once the sun is off the ridge.
You will not have to walk it if you would rather not. A golf cart and an SUV will run between the parking, the ceremony and the lodge throughout the day — our elders and the ladies will be carried across as a matter of course, and anyone else need only ask. If steps or distance are difficult for anyone in your party, tell us when you reply and we will see that you are looked after.
Your card tells you how many seats are reserved in your name, and your reply names them one by one. The mountain holds only so many, so we kindly ask that those be the seats that come. Children and guests are very welcome wherever the invitation includes them — and where it does, we have said so plainly.
If you are unsure, or hoping to bring someone, do ask us. We would far rather you asked than wondered.
Sharon will wear red for the ceremony and white for the evening, as both of our traditions ask of a bride. So that those two moments stay hers, we kindly ask that guests choose any other colour. Everything else is open to you — and autumn on the mountain rather invites the warm end of the wardrobe.
